US to intervene if China attacks Taiwan, Says Biden

Joe Biden, on his first tour of Asia as US president, visiting regional allies, appeared to contradict long-standing US policy in the region when speaking in Japan, though the White House said there had been no change.
Mr. Biden drew a comparison between Taiwan and Russia's invasion of Ukraine, sparking Beijing's wrath.
The US has previously been vague on what it would do in such a situation.
Whereas, Taiwan is viewed by China as a separate province that must be reunited with the mainland.
"Taiwan is an inalienable part of China's territory... there is no room for compromise or concession," Beijing's foreign ministry spokesman Wang Wenbin said.
"The issues of Taiwan and Ukraine are fundamentally different. It's ludicrous to compare the two. We encourage the US to adhere to the One China principle once more."
